The Rudranath Trek in Uttarakhand is steeped in mythological and spiritual significance, drawing pilgrims and trekkers alike. As part of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit, which includes five temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Rudranath trek is deeply connected to the epic Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva's blessings to atone for their sins after the Kurukshetra war.
However, Lord Shiva avoided them and took the form of a bull, eventually disappearing into the ground at different locations, which are now revered as the Panch Kedar temples. Rudranath is unique among these as it is the only place where Lord Shiva is worshipped in his 'Ekanan' form, depicted in a natural rock formation that resembles a human face. The temple's remote location, set amidst the lush and pristine Garhwal Himalayas, adds to its mystical allure. The Rudranath trek is a captivating pilgrimage and adventure route leading to the sacred Rudranath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Rishikesh to Sagar Village (336 kms Drive)
• Start your journey early in the morning from Rishikesh.
• The drive will take approximately 8-9 hours.
• Upon reaching Sagar Village, settle into your accommodation and rest after the long journey.
• Overnight stay in Sagar Village.

Sagar to Lwiti Bugyal (11 to 12 kms Trek)
• After an early breakfast, begin your trek towards Lwiti Bugyal.
• The trek will take you through picturesque landscapes and lush green meadows.
• Arrive at Lwiti Bugyal and settle in your camps (on Sharing Basis).
• Spend the evening relaxing at the bugyal, taking in the stunning views.
• Dinner and overnight stay at Lwiti Bugyal campsite (Shepard Style).
NOTE: TOILETS ARE COMMON & REGULATED BY A GOVERNMENT BODY.

Lwiti Bugyal to Rudranath Temple (8 kms Trek)
Today's• trek takes you closer to your main destination, Rudranath Temple.
• Begin the trek after breakfast, following the well-defined trail.
• Reach Rudranath Temple and explore the temple premises and the beautiful surroundings.
• Seek blessings at the temple and spend some time in quiet reflection.
• Overnight stay in camps near Rudranath Temple (On sharing Basis).
NOTE: TOILETS ARE COMMON REGULATED BY A GOVERNMENT BODY

Rudranath to Sagar Village (20kms Trek downhill)
• Wake up early to witness the sunrise and the serene atmosphere around Rudranath Temple.
• After breakfast, start your trek back to Sagar Village. The return journey will be relatively easier as you descend.
• Reach Sagar Village by late afternoon or evening.
• Dinner and overnight stay in Sagar Village.

Sagar to Rishikesh Via Kalpeshwar Mahadev (336 kms Drive)
• Drive from Sagar Village to Helang. Start your Journey Approximate distance: 100 km; driving time: 4-5 hours.
• From Helang, drive to Urgam Village. Approximate distance: 12 km; driving time: 1 hour.
• Visit Kalpeshwar Mahadev.
• Drive from Urgam Village to Rishikesh.
• Approximate distance: 250 km; driving time: 9-10 hours.
• Reach Rishikesh by evening.
