About this experience
Madhyamaheshwar Temple, also known as Madmaheshwar, is a sacred Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 3,497 meters (11,473 feet). Part of the revered Panch Kedar pilgrimage, the temple is set against the majestic Chaukhamba peak, offering a breathtaking spiritual and natural experience. Built in North Indian style, the temple is believed to have been constructed by the Pandavas to seek forgiveness after the Kurukshetra war. According to legend, this is where the navel (middle part) of Lord Shiva appeared when he eluded the Pandavas in the form of a bull. Local belief also holds that Bhima, the second Pandava, guards the temple. The trek to Madhyamaheshwar is both spiritually fulfilling and physically challenging, winding through lush forests, alpine meadows, and remote Himalayan villages, making it a soul-stirring journey for both pilgrims and nature lovers.

Trek from Ransi/Goundar to Madhyamaheshwar
• Start early in the morning and begin your trek from Ransi or Goundar to Madhyamaheshwar.
• The distance from Ransi is approximately 17 kilometers, while it's around 11 kilometers from Goundar.
• Trekking from Ransi involves a descent to Goundar, followed by an ascent to Madhyamaheshwar.
• Enjoy the scenic beauty along the trail and the views of the surrounding mountains.
• Arrive at Madhyamaheshwar, where you can visit the temple and explore the area.
• Overnight stay at Madhyamaheshwar.

Trek to Budha Madhyamaheshwar and Return to Goundar
• After breakfast, trek to Budha Madhyamaheshwar, which is about 2 kilometers from Madhyamaheshwar.
• Explore the area around Budha Madhyamaheshwar and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
• Return to Madhyamaheshwar and then begin the descent back to Goundar, which is approximately 11 kilometers.
• Overnight stay at Goundar.

• After breakfast, trek back from Goundar to Ransi, which is about 6 kilometers.
• From Ransi, drive back to Rishikesh.
• Arrive in Rishikesh and conclude your trekking journey.
